ANNUAL PHILO MAILING LIST LETTER - SAVE THE DATES
November 26, 2025
Dear Friend of Philomusica Chorale,
We are delighted to wish you a joyful start to the holiday season – and to announce our upcoming concert series for 2026 and 2027.
As members of the Philadelphia community, we are deeply touched by our city’s role in our nation’s story – and we have planned a special four-concert series that commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
We’re marking this historic American milestone with some historic American music! With great pride, we invite you to be a part of our AMERICA at 250 Series – special concert programs and events designed to commemorate, celebrate, and take on the continuing challenge of our democracy:
Coming to America — January 31, 2026, 4:00pm
Works by composers who made America their home
We Hold These Truths — May 16, 2026, 7:30pm
American stories and dreams told through American musical forms
America by the Numbers — January 30, 2027
Music celebrating key dates/numbers that are part of the American story
America at Work — May 22, 2027
Exploring life on the job through music
Other Upcoming Community Events
Wednesday, December 17 — Join us for holiday caroling (weather permitting) during the Chestnut Hill Community Association’s “Stag and Doe” night. The stores are open, the avenue is twinkling, and holiday spirit fills the air. We’ll be in the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue from 7:30 to 8:15pm.
Monday, January 5 — Sit in on an open rehearsal for our January 31 concert, as well as a screening of Family Gathering, an Oscar-nominated film by Philomusica singer Lise Yasui. This free event begins at 7pm in Widener Hall at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Avenue.
Tuesday, January 13 — Enjoy a free screening of the classic 1938 film, The Adventures of Robin Hood. The score was written by Erich Korngold, who became a U.S. citizen after fleeing the Nazi regime. Movie time is 7:30 p.m. in Widener Hall. Admission is free and costumes are optional, but encouraged!
Our programs are designed to entertain, educate, engage, and inspire. We hope you will feel uplifted as you join us—whether as an audience member or a supporter—for AMERICA at 250. Each concert offers opportunities to experience music that celebrates our heritage and brings us together for some memorable experiences.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors and Singers of Philomusica Chorale, and Gayle Wieand, Artistic Director
