Babe Yetu pronunciation


Hi Singers, 

Board Member, Katy Karlin, thought we might benefit from a native speaker on the Baba Yetu.

One note:  For the word "mjina" we have to phonate on the "m" despite what Joyce says.

As in Spanish, the pronunciation of the vowels is very straight forward.  

a = ah
e = ay
i = ee
o =  oh
u = oo, mostly.

A pronunciation guide via common english phonetics (NOT IPA) is on the back cover of your music.

 02 November 2025 Dear Singers,  We will now start rehearsals at 7 PM.  Officially, rehearsals will now be 7:00 to 9:30, but we might end earlier depending on the evening's progress! 🙂 Those of you who have been leaving at the break, please plan to stay until the end of rehearsal.
